The final show on Sunday night featured none other than Littlefeat, and what a show it was! One of the best rock concerts I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of  em. The 20 minute version of “Dixie Chicken” was, to say the least, plump full of juicy awesomeness. Near the end they brought out Richie Hayward, founding member and  long time drummer.Though suffering from liver cancer, he still managed to get on the drums and pound the skins.

update…

Sadly, Richard Hayward passed away  in early August. I feel  profoundly blessed that I was able to see him perform in public that one last time.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Spent the weekend at the Vancouver Island Music Fest for three days of excellent music, and I am just now editing the 1511 pictures I took.
Here is gallery number 1

The Adrian Belew Power Trio rocked the center stage so hard, they blew the power! (not really their fault, the sound systems were a little buggy all weekend.) But man did they ROCK. Considering this little shindig is considered a Folk Fest, these three musicians blew everyone away with their experimental power rock. I did not know who these folks were until they started playing. My first thought was “Need to get into the beer garden to continue to kill my brain with Lager” quickly followed buy ” Wow! This really reminds me of the style of guitar I remember from King Crimson’s album ‘Discipline’ ”

This is when someone even drunker than I was stated that Adrian Belew actually played on that album! I was flabbergasted…what ever that means. I then actually left the safety of the overcrowded and full of drunk smelly campers beer garden to take some pics.

Enjoy!
If you want to see the “full screen” slideshow click on the “view in slideshow” and run your mouse over the picture. An option bar pops up with the fullscreen button on the right….. no! your other right! (thats aimed at the people I was there with…. =8-] )

There are more pics of these folks to come so stay tuned!
